This is the final “class” of John Roy’s free of charge online stand-up comedy course. It’s been a great set of lessons in stand-up that Roy, both a very funny comedian who has definitely put his time in as a full time working stand-up, is offering for all, whether you’re going full bore into comedy or casually interested in it minus the hundreds of dollars you’d spend at a class if that was what you were looking to do.

John Roy’s online standup class (really a series of essays designed to be read once a week for twelve weeks) is an incredible gift to anyone curious about how to start doing standup, or curious about how standup is done. It gives the lie to the old truism that you “can’t teach standup” — there’s a lot in standup that’s teachable, it’s just that most standup classes are bullshit. John’s honest, straightforward, and thoughtful lessons are made up of the kind of wisdom comedians who really give a shit share with each other when they’re talking about their craft — and even better, it’s all in one place, and available to everyone. It’s some of the best writing on standup by a working comic that I’ve ever read, and I can’t recommend it highly enough.
